Football
The football team finished their regular season last night with a 38-17 win over Cole Harbour. A stifling defence and strong special teams play were the difference in the game. Garret Malloy returned a kickoff for a touchdown and then returned a punt for another score. Rene Zeevat was all over the field on defence and also got in on the scoring with a 50 yard touchdown of his own on a fake punt run. Cullen O'Leary scored twice, once on the ground from 5 yards out and once in the air on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Gavin Longmire. Jared Whiteway converted all five touchdowns and also had 25 yard field goal. On the defensive side of the ball, Spencer Holman was in on a number of tackles and sacks while Colby Grant and Vincent Takamaa had strong games for the defensive line. Your Kingfishers will be playing their playoff semi-final game this Friday evening at 7 pm at the Mainland Commons in a rematch against Cole Harbour. Come out and support your team.
