Huge congratulations to Grade 11 Ryan Simms who won Gold over the weekend at the Canadian National Muay Thai competition in Toronto! Way to go Ryan!
Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the Boys Volleyball team for placing 3rd in the Avonview Tournament over the weekend, Liam Graves was named All Star! If you missed those games and are looking to watch one of the most intense games of the season, tonight is the LAST game before playoffs!
The team faces DHS tonight at 6 in the SHS gym. See you there!
There will be GSA on Thursday at lunch in the Youth Health Centre.
The students attending Discovery Day tomorrow at Dalhousie must see Mrs. Doyle TODAY at the start of lunch.
Boys Basketball
The Varsity boy’s basketball team had their first game action this past weekend at Sir John A. They won their first game; however, they lost their next 3 games against Auburn, Sir John A and Parkview. The team was led by Brevin Hynes who had a game high 22 points in their win. The boys will have practice today @ 3-5.
The football team won their quarter-final playoff game on Sunday evening by a score of 21-12 over Millwood. Colby Grant, Aidan Nickerson-Ring and Troy Reid all rushed for touchdowns while Brayden Midy and Jermar Adams had strong games on the defensive side of the ball. Up next is a trip to Cape Breton for a semi-final game against Sydney Academy this Saturday. A reminder to all football players that there will be a film session in Room 110 immediately after school today.
Girls & Boys Basketball
Its a big week for boys and Girls basketball. Both teams host Home openers- Boys basketball hosts CPA at 6:00 PM on Weds, and Girls Basketball opens to Halifax West Thursday at 8:00 pm. Come out and support your Kingfishers.
Attention Writer's. The SHS Writer's Club will be hosting a special meeting Wednesday, Nov 13 from 3 - 4 pm in room #230. Special guest Angela Momberguette, Editor for Nimbus Publishing, will be there to answer questions and discuss how to become a published author.
