Good Evening Kingfisher students and families,
Thank you to everyone for a fantastic first full week at school! It has been wonderful to see students settling into their routines, making new connections, and actively engaging in their learning. The energy in our classrooms and hallways is positive and inspiring, and it’s clear that we are building a strong foundation for a successful year ahead.
We are so proud of how quickly students are adjusting, showing kindness to one another, and embracing new opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. A big thank you also goes out to our staff and families for their continued support, it truly makes a difference in creating a welcoming and vibrant school community.

Terry Fox Run
Our school will be participating in the Terry Fox Run on Monday, September 22nd, taking place on the back field from 1 to 3 PM. Everyone is excited to come together to support cancer research and honor Terry Fox’s courageous journey. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to stay active, show their spirit, and make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Students can register at the link below to fundraise for this event, and/or they can pay a $5 participation donation to take part in the event on Sept. 22nd. All funds raised will go towards the Terry Fox Foundation. Our student organizers will be in the main lobby at lunch from Sept. 15 - 19 to register students, take donations, and hand out consent forms to miss that day's afternoon classes. The Terry Fox run will be a fun event with music, door prizes, and tons of school spirit. Let's finish it for Terry.

Friendly Reminder: Cell Phone Directive 2025–2026
This is a friendly reminder that the Provincial Directive on Cell Phones in Schools, announced last year by the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, will continue to be followed at SHS and all schools in Nova Scotia for the 2025–2026 school year.
The directive is designed to support a positive learning environment that is free from unnecessary distractions so that students can focus, feel safe, and be successful in school.
We encourage all students and families to review the Cell Phone Directive for SHS to ensure everyone is familiar with the expectations.

Friendly Reminder: Arriving on Time
This is a friendly reminder that the warning bell rings at 8:50am and 12:20pm, with classes beginning promptly at 8:55am (morning instruction) and 12:25pm (afternoon instruction)
We’ve noticed that a number of students are arriving late (not on late buses) and as a result, they are missing valuable instructional time. It’s important for students to be in class at the very beginning so they can fully participate in learning and not fall behind.
Thank you for supporting punctuality, it makes a big difference in student success!
Important Dates
Sept. 25th - Curriculum Night 5:30-7pm
Sept. 26th - Orange Shirt Day wear Orange
Sept. 29th – PD Day (no classes)
Sept. 30th – Truth and Reconciliation Day (no classes)
Thank you for your continued support in helping make our school a positive and engaging place for all students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers, staff, or administration if you have any questions or need assistance, we’re always here to help.
With kindness,
The Staff and Administration of Sackville High School
