Updated - Semester Two

update

Good Evening Kingfisher Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I would like to thank our students for a great start to Semester 2. Students have settled in very well despite the many interruptions to the Semester 1 final summative assessment schedule, the delayed start to Semester 2, and the recent snow days. It is hard to believe that we are already at the beginning of March, with March Break only two weeks away. Hopefully, we will also begin to see some spring weather in the near future.

PowerSchool Updates
Teachers updated PowerSchool with assignments and assessment marks as of Thursday, February 26th. We encourage students and parents/guardians to regularly check PowerSchool for both attendance and assessment updates. Please note that any items highlighted in blue contain additional information that can be viewed by clicking on them. If you have any questions regarding PowerSchool updates, please reach out directly to the subject teacher.

Curriculum Night
Our Curriculum Night, which was previously cancelled due to a snow day, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 10th from 3:30–4:30pm. As our school is used for community programming in the evenings, this earlier time allows us to host the event. Teachers shared Semester 2 course outlines several weeks ago. If you did not receive a course outline, please contact the subject teacher. As always, teachers are happy to connect if you have any questions about curriculum or course expectations.

Parking Lot and Student Safety
This is a reminder to students and parents/guardians that the first entrance into the parking lot is designated for buses only, and the second lane is an exit only for buses. If you are dropping off your child, please use the third entrance, turn left, and exit using the fourth lane.

To ensure student safety and allow for proper bus flow and emergency access if needed, the bus entrance and front drop-off area must remain clear of vehicles between 8:30am and 3:30pm daily.

If a student requires a drop off in the bus loop due to medical reasons, please contact the main office.  We thank you for your cooperation, as school administration actively directs traffic each morning and afternoon to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Student Washroom Expectations
We have noticed an increase in students gathering and lingering in the washrooms, including sitting on the floors and using cell phones. Washrooms are private spaces intended for their designated use and are cell phone–free areas to protect the privacy and dignity of all students and staff.

School administration will continue to monitor washroom areas to ensure they remain safe, welcoming, and sanitary. We ask students to please avoid gathering or spending unnecessary time in washrooms and to follow school expectations and the Regional School Code of Conduct. Our goal is to ensure that all students feel safe and respected in our school environment.

Thank you to our students, families, and staff for your continued support and cooperation. Working together helps ensure that SHS remains a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for everyone.
