May 16
LGBTQ
May 17th is the day against homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia. Transphobia is a hatred towards transgender people (people who do not identify with their birth sex). Transphobia is a massive problem these days. 49 out 50 US States have proposed some kind of anti-trans legislation in the past 3 years. You can help trans people feel safe and valid by using proper names and pronouns. If you are unsure of someone’s pronouns, just ask!

Opportunity Place
Don't know what you want to do after high school or you don't know what is available to you? Do you want to know about full time jobs after graduating? Ms Tasco has been working hard on next week's "Equity-Focused Career and Resource Fair", so that all students can be exposed to a wide range of career opportunities, post-secondary resources, part time and summer jobs, free training and employment programs, and disability related resources and services. There will be over 50 booths set up in our gym on Wed May 17th between 9am and 12pm. If you plan to attend, make sure you come on your free, at the lunch bell, or check with your teacher to ensure it is ok to attend. You could also win prizes! For more info or if you want to volunteer, please see Ms Tasco. And make sure you come prepared with a resume - you never know what opportunities you might find!
